Use a soaker hose to water trees. Water slowly and deeply once every other week in the absence of rain. Click here for more information

Deadhead flowering plants for prolific blooming and feed with a fertilizer one with a higher middle number.  
Plant gladiolus bulbs up to the 15th of the month.  
Keep tomatoes watered regularly to avoid blossom-end rot. Check the plants for hornworms. Remove by hand. Click here for more information

Stake tall slender plants.  
Examine your "vacationing" houseplants to be sure their needs are being met. Click here for more information
Sow cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, & radish for a fall crop. Click here for more information
Pick flowers for dried bouquets late in the afternoon when moisture levels are lowest.

Don't let anyone smoke near your garden or handle plants before washing hands thoroughly. The tobacco residue can spread tobacco mosaic virus.
