The Horticulture Program presents programs on various aspects of gardening to community, fraternal and garden groups. If you would like to have a Master Gardener come to speak to your group, please contact 516-228-0426, X10, for information. The programs are generally of one hour's duration, although some more in-depth programs may be one and one-half hours. Subjects include:
* Spring Gardening Basics — waking up the garden, including soil prep, composting and irrigation (1 hr.)
* Other programs — Minor Bulbs, Perennials, Landscape Design with Trees and Shrubs, Fall Gardening Basics.
* Two new programs this year are Herb Gardening - the care and culture of herbs, both culinary and fragrant, and Vegetable Gardening - planning the vegetable garden, soil prep, seeds vs. transplants, etc.
The Master Gardeners are always happy to answer gardening questions after the program.
