Compost can be a very valuable addition to your garden areas. It is probably the best type of organic matter to be used as a soil amendment. Its presence improves the soil by binding particles together, increasing the soil’s water-holding and nutrient-holding capacity and releasing nitrogen and other nutrients for plant use. Although we no longer maintain a demonstration site for compost on the premises, we certainly recommend its use and can give you information on using and/or making compost.
